Let's look past the hilarity of Team Gordy jumping the shark and getting in bed with the crank section of the party. Davis wasn't even exec directory of party when that went down.<br /><br />More importantly, Habeeb got $20k of that money. Is Gordy really running around and accusing Habeeb of corruption and money laundering?

Every one of these proposals to reduce the inmate population runs completely counter to what is done in Champaign County. Were you to suggest these to the State's Attorney, she would laugh in your face. "They are criminals. We aren't supposed to be nice to them," she will likely say.

Thanks Mark. The deals that do have expirations are set by the advertisers. We always try to get them to eliminate them or make them as lengthy as possible. In most cases the advertiser will still accept the certificate after the expiration date, they are mostly in place simply for long term tracking purposes.<br /><br />Also all advertisers will accept the certificates within the 5 year span in which you mentioned for the purchase amount.<br /><br />Thanks

That is pretty creative right there! <br /><br />Jamar, the school board has hardly been impressive on this issue. So for the average joe, how does one measure the degree of transparency in Champaign? How does one know what is not there in plain-to-see black-and-white?<br /><br />I have been encouraged to talk to City Planners, but I have no idea how to even start the conversation. "So, Mr. City Planner, tell me what you are not being transparent about." :)<br /><br />I am just starting to read the Introduction of this book and am trying to set some local context for myself to operate within.

LOL! It was just a matter of time before I was outed, but "my prize" in this is the thought that voters might pay more attention to local candidates in the future. Voters might be more likely to focus on credentials and challenge candidates as to why those qualifications are relevant to the job they are applying for. Blog readers might be inspired to run for precinct committeeman or get more involved with the community in other ways. I am simply passionate about the political process and hope that more voters become more engaged and become more informed. Knowing that I might have played a small part in that is all the prize I'll ever need. Call me complacent if you want, but don't suggest that I can be influenced with political bribes. Nothing could be further from the truth.

People are free to support (or not support) whoever they want. When people don't support you, your cause, or your candidate, it isn't productive to attack people simply because they are not on your side. People catch on to this bullying tactic (flame-throwing as I often refer to it) and start to distance themselves from you. People with this type of profile will often find themselves isolated and they have no one to blame but themselves. The constant **** talking, name-calling, and spreading of false rumors is simply not attractive.

Bud, I post under my real name and can hold my own. I'm not sure what "start holding their mouthpiece responsible" means, but I really look forward to you trying.

As I've been saying for a long time, I'm looking forward to focusing on credentials and what the candidates bring to the table. I can't wait for the general election to heat up!

Matt, I understand the suggestion.But where is the learning? Now, I as an uncaring, the whole world outside of my abode is my own garbage can to do as I want citizen will not even have a nano second of a thought as I litter because I know that someone else is going to come along and pick up for me and learn a lesson from picking up my thoughtlessness. When in fact that same person, no matter under what osposis is doing this work, could be helping build a rain garden, install rain barrels, mow the lawn of someone who can not longer do the job, run errands for the same person, etc.

Adam won a highly-contested race and outsted an incumbent dem Bob Flider before the lines were re-drawn. He definately has the potential for primetime. We'll have to wait to see if Chapin Rose steps up.

Good God, imagine Chapin running for US congress, Adam getting appointed as the nominee for Chapin's seat, and Adam's seat being up for grabs. I'm not saying it's likely, but this has the potential to get even more interesting.

You may well be right that the spread in the primary won't be a factor at all in November. I saw it as a sign that there were some divisions in the party, rather than as any kind of statement about Wysocki herself. That said, I doubt there would be a lot of Dems who would vote for a Republican candidate over her just because of internal party stuff; I wouldn't.
