Don Gerard - So far so good

After 6 4 months as Mayor of Champaign, I'm happy to report a positive review of Gerard's performance.  I endorsed Don Gerard because I thought he would be the better candidate to promote champaign in a positive way and bring more people together.  So far so good:

I listened to Gerard speak to Friday's Black Chamber of Commerce audience and appreciated that it was because of Don, and other leaders like him, that the event was a huge success.  The event brought together a diverse mix of business and community leaders and promoted an atmosphere of diversity and inclusiveness, an atmosphere that largely existed because of Gerard promoting of the event.

As I was thinking about what to write about on Monday's blog post, I saw a FB post from Don: "I have over 1,770 friends and only 140 of 'em like Champaign? Oh, come on, folks..."   The people who "like" Champaign on Facebook has doubled since Saturday night.  :-)

Promoting our community in a positive way is a primary function of the Mayor's job and I'm happy he's exceeding my expectations and is showing no signs of slowing down.   I see the guy everywhere...
